DC Flea with my friends

There are only a few things that make me get up at 6am on a Saturday morning.  One is a craft show and the second is antiquing. You see I'm just not a morning person so the motivation has to be just right LOL!  When my Facebook primitive/ stitcher friend Michelle Blanco told me about the DC Big Flea Market in Chantilly Virginia at the Dulles Expo Center I was game.  I mean after all I'd get to antique and meet Michelle for the first time.  I also talked my long time best friend Holly LeMay into going too.

I must say it was a perfect day with lots to look at and buy.  There must have been over 500 booths. The best booth for me was "The Truffle Pigs" booth it was a stitchers dream come true...vintage buttons, hat pins, sewing notions, mixed in with Handmades by a bunch of very talented gals Stacey Bear, Deborah Hartwick and Kim Stout. If you'd like to check them out here is their blog: http://trufflepigssewingroom.blogspot.com/?m=1

My friend Holly found a sweet Steiff fish and a vintage fish bowl to put him in LOL.  Michelle found the cutest little antique red/cream sewing machine. I found a crock that was in perfect condition outside of a small chip for a really great price.  We all came away with a lot more goodies but those are just a few of the items we found that came home.  Here is a photo of everything I brought home.

To see when the next DC Big Flea is:

Also for those that come to the show there is a Cheesecake Factory only several minutes away....this is where we all had lunch. It was yummy too. :0)

Spring Pinkeep Swap with Maria Montreuil of The Frenzied Fox

I have been so late in posting this and I apologize to Maria for my tardiness especially since she made me so many lovely things.   I am truly grateful and glad we got to know each other through this swap!!!  Maria sent me the most beautiful Robin pinkeep in blues. It definitely makes me think of spring and it's her very own design.  Just love the colors!!! Isn't it lovely!!!
Then she sent me the cutest black cat doll with kittens.  I love cats and this sweetie has found her home in our dining room were I can see her everyday.  Love the Black Eyed Susan flowers on her apron...such great detail!!!

Maria also sent me a wonderful smelling bar of oatmeal soap that her and her husband are starting to make. Their business name is "Ye Olde Goat Cart".   I can recommend the oatmeal highly and I love the exfoliating texture of the oatmeal.  I'll be buying Some more once this bar is gone. :0)
Maria also sent me a box of chocolate mints....which didn't last long LOL!  They were to good to leave alone. ;0)

Silas also got a gift from Maria...he absolutely loves his leopard....he named him Leo!!!! He's been sleeping with him every night since he got him. Thank you Maria!!!!

Thank you Maria for the fantastic swap and I hope I get to meet you soon in person!!! Please pop over to Maria's blog ( http://thefrenziedfox.blogspot.com ) to see what she's creating. :0) I also want to thank my good friend Wendy of Ravenwood Whimzies ( http://ravenwoodwhimzies.blogspot.com) for hosting this wonderful swap.

I hope this post finds you all happy and healthy my friends.

Theresa
